Araku Valley – Beauty of Eastern Ghat
Coffee plantation is largely responsible for the rehabilitation of many tribes living in and around Araku Valley. The first organic coffee brand was launched in India by tribal producers in 2007. The Organic brand, named ‘Araku Emerald’, is popular with the country as well as internationally. Now there are thousands of tribal people working in these gardens as farm hands and assistants.
Tourist places in and around Araku Valley
There are some real interesting places to visit, including Araku Valley Tribal Museum, Tida, Borra Caves , Sangada Waterfalls and Padampuram Botanical Garden. Also, those who want to indulge themselves with the flavors of nature, they must visit these coffee plantations. Some people prefer to enjoy the scenic beauty of the place instead of sightseeing. However, no attractions should be left in the Araku Valley, as they help visitors to better understand the history and culture of the place.
How to reach Araku Valley
The hill station is connected to the rest of the country through good roads and good rail network. There are two railway stations, one in Araku and the other in Araku Valley. Both railway stations are connected to the railway station at Vizag. There are two stations for Araku Valley on the Kothavlasa-Kirandul railway line, part of the Visakhapatnam Division on the East-Coast Railway. Shimiliguda railway station is the highest broad gauge line in the entire country.
The railway station is at an elevation of 996 meters above sea level. There is no airport at the station, although the roads leading to the hills are in good condition. Travelers can take private taxis from any town and city in Andhra Pradesh to reach Araku Valley.
There are many bus operators operating regular bus services to get to Araku and return from there. Deluxe and Volvo buses are also available from Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to Araku Valley. The fares of buses are less than that of private cabs but the fares of deluxe buses and Volvo are higher than the fare of normal bus.
Best time to visit Araku Valley
Araku Valley has a moderate climate throughout the year. The summers are not hot unlike the plains, and the winters are cool and cool without temperatures below freezing. When the plains become very hot, people from the towns and cities around the valley like to visit this place during summer.
However, the best time to enjoy the beauty of the valley is during the winter season. During the winter months, one can enjoy sports such as trekking Camping and many more.
